About Claire

A practitioner of applied behavioural sciences and Executive Coach, Claire takes great fulfilment in empowering others to understand why behaviours occur and what can be done to alter that behaviour to bring about positive change. The former police officer highlights how her diverse career has aided her ability to listen, observe, pinpoint and accurately describe behaviours.

Claire on how behavioural management improves peoples lives

Claire acknowledges that the most common misunderstanding of behavioural management is that it is only deemed necessary for problem areas and the perception is all about fixing others. On the contrary, she reinforces to others that change often starts within the self. As leader of the Costain behavioural management programme, Claire oversees a dedicated team of consultants, practitioners, coaches and advisors. Through facilitating workshops and providing specific techniques, the team assists clients and colleagues to build upon the understanding of behaviours to develop interventions which lead to sustainable change. It is all a balance though. Recognising and sharing what works well and ensuring the environment stays consistent for new behaviours to continue is just as important as identifying and eliminating the undesired behaviours. For those who create trusting, truthful and honest environments, having difficult conversations where needed and acknowledging success is absolutely key to the behavioural science approach

Claire’s biggest professional achievement

Claire highlights being part of the Costain team that achieved the successful reaccreditation from the Cambridge Centre for Behavioral Studies seeing the Group’s behavioural safety programme move from gold to platinum status, making it only one of two organisations at this level worldwide.
